| Hot Club of Detroit with Special Guest, violinist, Zach Brock Zach Brock (violin) -Julien Labro (accordion) -Evan Perri (lead guitar) -Paul Brady (rhythm guitar) -Shawn Conley (bass) Unlike the instrumentation of original Paris-based quintet, comprising Django Reinhardt, violinist Stephane Grappelli, two rhythm guitarists, and a bassist, the current Hot Club of Detroit is made of guitarist Perri, accordionist Julien Labro, soprano and tenor saxophonist Carl Cafagna, rhythm guitarist Paul Brady and bassist Andrew Kratzat. The fibrous accordion tones of Labro, a native of Marseilles, France, links the Detroit quintet to the French musette style from which gypsy jazz partially sprung, while Cafagna’s robust saxophone work introduces bop and post-bop elements to gypsy jazz. | "Palter Ego: Jesse Palter and Sam Barsh" Palter Ego: Jesse Palter and Sam Barsh What do you get when you take 2 accomplished jazz musicians and give them an opportunity to produce a pop record? No boundaries. Jesse Palter & The Alter Ego is the brain child of vocalist Jesse Palter (Detroit/Los Angeles) and keyboardist Sam Barsh (Chicago/New York). After meeting in 2006, they began collaborating on original music that has been making waves amongst their audiences and contemporaries alike. Both established musicians and dynamic performers in their own right (Palter received honors as "Outstanding Jazz Vocalist" 3 years in a row at the Detroit Music Awards and Barsh has toured and recorded with the likes of Cassandra Wilson, Avishai Cohen, Boyz II Men, Bobby McFerrin and The Brand New Heavies, among others), The Alter Ego is creating a niche for themselves by blending catchy hooks, club-worthy beats, and captivating lyrics while maintaining the spirit of their jazz and soul roots. They spent a month in 2008 performing in Asia, where their high octane performances received rave reviews; since then they've been showcasing their exciting project at various venues throughout the States, including a main stage performance at Comerica Cityfest in Detroit, private events for David Barton Gym and the Anti-Defamation League, and packed club shows in Chicago, New York and LA. Recently their music has been featured on a variety of radio and television commercials. With a brand new 8-song EP and a unique and sexy look that are garnering alot of attention, its time to brace yourself for the Alter Ego. | ||
